Default Dealer claims car needs throttle cleaning at 15,800 miles

I'd never heard this before so I said no to the $60 maintenance. He also threw in the world "intercooler" cleaning there too, maybe about it helping the intercooler or something. Is he trying to scam me?

Ask them to show you where it says it in the service maintenance book or your owners manual that it should be done and you will have your answer when they cant show you!!

Just do it yourself. Auto places sell throttle body cleaners in a spray. Just spray and wipe. I used to do this on my old Maxima. They do get some deposits built up but... I dunno about 15K miles. But yes, I also smell BS.

This is an unneeded service. The dealer is just trying to make some money, one more reason to do your own maintenance.

Not needed.
Follow the maintenance book. I did each service 3 times on my Legacy (Family car, I got it with 295k on it)

This is an additive, not a throttle body cleaner (but I agree, it is good stuff).

Anyways, you usually need your throttle body cleaned when you've got a 'sticky' throttle. Start looking for this around 50,000 miles or so...
