Default Four Star Racing/Motorsports- anyone purchased a transmission from them?

I am looking at upgrading my trans within month and a half. I am definetly set on STI RA gearset, but than I came across this website, I am thinking about geting a slightly use V6 STI RA trans w/DCCD. WHat are your opinions. Did anyone else get their trans from Four Star Racing in Ontario Canada?

BTW my goal is 350 AWHP

Yes, I have. Easy to deal with, quality parts and a good price.

I purchased a 6MT about 2 years ago now. I drove to Toronto and picked up two of them, one for me and one for another guy. They were good to deal with but didn't have all the parts ready, and ended up shipping some of the stuff a couple weeks later. They are much easier to deal with outside of rally season, since they are very busy when it's in full swing.

There are others however that have not had such good dealings with them.

That's a good point...i was going to mention it, but didn't because it wasn't my personal experience. From my understanding though it was because of an unfortunate incident, and that since then most people have had no complaints? This should probably be in the vendor review btw. Good luck with the project.

One experience with them, it was bad. Ordered STi takeoff wheels and tires in October a couple of years ago. After a looong wait, they were finally coming over on a container in December, container was dropped and lotsa stuff was damaged. Not their fault, just my typical Charlie Brown luck, I figured. After having the money tied up for so long, and no idea when the wheels would arrive, I cancelled the order. They had already charged my card back when I ordered, and repeated emails and calls did nothing to get a refund. Finally called in the credit card company, who credited my card and then settled up with Four Star for me. Be careful.

I've never dealt with them personally, but this is what I know about them: The shop is owned and operated by the Sprongl brother (Frank, Dan and Karl), who are active in the Canadian performance rally scene. Frank won the Rally of the Tall Pines in 2003. They sponser many rally events and organizations. As such they are well connected to suppliers and generally know what they are talking about. But, from what I've heard they may not be the best in the customer relations department. If someone's having a bad day at the shop, you (the customer) may hear about it, and problems tend not to get dealt with promptly.

That's exactly the vibe I got, that the parts business was DEFINITELY second on the list. I do know that they know what they're doing Subie-wise, I had several conversations about other things as well. I also have no doubt that they're well-connected if you need something out of the ordinary. So it seems like an ok place if you can deal with long lead times and such...
