Default help, corner light does not seem to fit anymore

today I took off my passenger corner light (I wanted to see the reverse side to compare it to a clear version at a local store). I took it off by using a cloth and a flathead screwdriver to lightly pry it up around all 4 sides. When I went to reinstall it, it snaps into place but doesn't hold as snugly as it did before. I notice that there is a clip on the top that fits into a groove in the metal of the car. I also notice a thin lip on the bottom side that fits into the metal of the car. I was able to put it in with the top first and then the bottom and I also tried doing the bottom first and then the top. Irregardless of order, it seems to not fit right anymore. By comparison, the driver side light which I did not take off is very snug and doesn't wobble when I touch it. Is there a secret to putting these back on?

One last note: I noticed that the metal of the car was slightly bent inwards at the point where the clip of the light (top) is inserted. I tried bending it back so that it was flat, but the light did not fit any better. Any help would greatly be appreciated!

The bent metal is the problem, even when you bend it back the light doesn't want to fit as snuggly... I just put some tape on the metal to make the area where it bent a little more built up and messed around with bending the metal until the light was snug enough that it didn't move or fall out... my friend couldn't even keep his light in place after he took his out. I think it is best to take them out from the inside rather then prying from the outside even though it is a pain to take out the battery just to pop it out.

I think I am going to try the tape.

I didnt think it was possible to remove the corners from within the hood. I took another look and one of the body panels is in the way (not sure what this panel is called, but its the one that bolts up to the quarterpanel. I didnt take out the battery (its on the other side). On the side my corner is loose on, the air intake duct is kind of in the way but even if I somehow managed to take it out that body panel would still prevent me from reaching the corner. I think the only way is to use a screwdriver to push the corner through one of the small holes in that panel, but that didn't get me anywhere.

I was going to do clear corners anyways, so maybe I should just wait before I try to fix this because I need to take them out again anyways?

Is there a secret to taking out the corner without bending the metal? I dont want to have to go through the whole fitment procedure each time I take these out, it seems as though it should be easier than this.

Thanks for your help so far.
