Default MY02 clock going out?

So now its winter in MN and my LED clock goes away for days and doesn't come back on. It seems almost temperature related. When it is around 20 degrees here there is no way to get it, but once the car is really warm, if you tap the center console it comes on, and the time is still accurate. Now that it is the coldest week of the year, -6 degrees without windchill, the clock is back on. Like i said, it works fine in either extremely hot or cold weather, and it usually takes a hit to fix it, i checked the wiring behind it and it all checks out, any comments on this? For about 3 months it was completly out and didn't come on with any temp change or banging, and when it does come on or goes out, it fades, its not a sudden on/off, rather a dimming either on or off that takes a couple seconds.

The display itself is probably shot, or there is a bad connection on the circuit board. If you are comfortable with electronics you can take it apart and try to mess with it, if not just leave it alone. Check the Private Classifieds, there are sometimes used OEM clocks available pretty cheap.

Mine had the same problem. If it's the same as the forester clocks, take it apart and solder the SMT resistor inside. There's been a lot of cases of having a particular resistor breaking at the solder joint.

I also had the same problem. But I've done nothing about it except stare at the blank clock. Why am I posting again?

thanks guys for all the info, I really hate staring at a blank face there, that and i hate having to look at my watch for the time while driving. I may just get a center gauge pod for there anyways.
