Default Starter problem??

Hey guys,
I tried to start my car tonight so I could work on it this weekend outside the garage and it wouldn't start. It started fine two days ago when I last moved it... haven't touched it since then, just sat in the garage. The battery is fine, when I turn the key it won't try to turn over, just makes a clicking sound over and over again quickly. The car only has 10K miles on it... is it the starter? I would like to fix it myself if possible so I can work on it this weekend without worrying about it starting. Thought I would ask before I start ripping the starter apart...
thanks
Ben

It's most probably your battery. When you say it is "fine", how do you know? Have you measured the voltage while you try to start the engine?
While a starter failure in an 04 is possible it is very unlikely.

when I say its fine I mean that I tried to jump the car also and it didn't change anything, when I would turn the key it just kept clicking... wouldn't even try to turn over. Sorry, I should have been more clear on my first post... I did try to disconnect the wiring to the starter and reconnect it... (friend's idea) the car tried to turn over once, then started clicking again like before.... tried to jump it agian after that... just clicking again....

It still sounds like you are getting insufficient voltage to the starter for some reason, battery or otherwise. Check the terminal connections at the battery for tightness and cleanliness, it's possible to have enough corrosion between the terminal and post to cause problems and not see it without taking the clamp off. Check all the main grounds as well.

Thanks for your help... I took some sandpaper to the battery also, that was one of the first things I did lastnight... I am going to keep working at it today and check all the grounds, thanks for your help
