Default A question about headlight bulbs (and not what you think)

Ok, so I know my headlight bulb has 2 filaments, but here's what bugs me, I know that w/ the lows, only one is on. BUT when the high beams come on, what happens? do they switch, (one comes on, the other off) or do they both come on?

I believe it's the second one (both on) but i'd rather get some input on this. (because if it's the other one (one off one on) then i'd like to re-wire them to both be on w/ the highs).

I don't have access to wiring diagram for the GC/GM/GF platform, but for the GD/GG bugeyes, the filaments light up separately: 1 only for lows, & 1 only for highs.

All dual-filament bulbs are designed so that only one filament is on at a time. If you try to run both simultaneously the bulb will quickly burn out.
