Question 2004 WRX Tranny oil?

My tranny oil is running very low and I only got 11,000 miles. The owners manual says dont mix brands because each brand uses different ingredients which may not react properly with the stock oil used. Is this BS?? I think I should put some oil in it as long as it is the same grade until I can get to Mastro tomorrow. Can anybody give advice.

Don't mix brands if you need a topoff got to the dealership and make sure they use Subaru OEM fluid.

How low are you talking? On the low side of the dipstick or not even on the stick?

very low on the dipstick.........but under the low hole. I would think I should put some in there so I dont mess anything up until tomorrow. How about you? Why is mixing so bad? Does anyone know what the stock fluid is....brand name?

Do not know what the stock fluid is, At that mileage I am pretty sure you should be changing it soon.

I would try topoing off with GM Synchromesh until you have around 15k. You might as well try it out for 4k miles, if it doesn't work, just don't add any to your chage at 15k... Read this thread:

Edit: It's an i-club thread... replace the nabisco root with i-club...
