Post Should I reset ECU?

Hey,

Im going to be getting into my first car soon and its my sisters old one. She drove quite tame and would never cross the border of 3k RPMs (it's manual). My driving style is somewhat (a lot) different. I was wondering if it would be in my best benefit to reset the ECU to learn my driving style? And if so, would someone tell me how I might go about doing this?

Thanks alot,

Rudy

By resetting the ECU this will allow it to learn quickly. If you do not it will take a little more time. If you do mods(exhaust, intake ETC.), them reset the ECU.
How to
Disconnect negative terminal on battery.
Leave disconnected for an hour or so.
Reconnect the terminal after a hour.
Start car-DO NOT TOUCH THE GAS PEDAL.
leave run for 20-30 minutes, do not touch anything (gas pedal, stereo, nothing)
After 20-30 minutes, shut off.
Then restart and go for a hard drive.
Bounce off redline a couple of times in first and second. Then vary driving style.
Your done.

i would recommend after the reset, when you go for a drive start out soft and slowly work your way to freeways and redlining.
peace
