i am actually committed to another team otherwise i would be in. there is going to be some good competition out there.

i think 4 drivers would be perfect five would be ok, six, too many. a lot of sitting around with six drivers.

As I got the email last night I was like cool! This could be fun!

Then I did the math. at 375 for 3 hours its actually more expensive than the $20 per 10ish minutes of track time that you normally pay! Since they're always run late, you actually only get about 5 sessions per hour.

I would figure if they really wanted to get people to go, they could at least give a little more incentive...

I'm definately interested in joining a team for this. I've only been to RA once. I managed a 25.79 for my fastest lap. I've done a few events with endurance karting also, so I have a little experience. Let me know.

Matt

I should add, I'm looking for a 4 man team. The more seat time the better.

SUNDAY JANUARY 30, 2005
11:00AM - 4:00 PM

11:00AM - 11:30AM Team Sign In
11:30AM - 11:45AM Driver Briefing
11:45AM - 12:30PM Team Practice & Kart Assignment
12:30PM - 12:45PM Team Qualifying
12:45PM - 1:00PM Kart Grid
1:00PM - 4:00PM Race
4:00PM - 5:00PM Buffet Diner & Awards

The big track at RA you get ~7 min of run time for $20 (16 laps x 26 seconds per lap / 60 = 6.9999) .

At F1 Boston, on $20 Sundays, you get 20 laps at 20-21 seconds which works out to almost the same as RA. With RA, it's $20 all the time.. F1 it's more expensive not on Sundays and their leagues are a bit more expensive.

Now.. this thing is going to have both tracks combined... which should be good for 35-40 second lap times... 3 hrs of racing. Also, add in the seat time with qualifying & practice

If you have 5 people, it's $75 each for about 36 minutes of actual head to head racing each. Even if it were 30 min of seat time ea, it's cheaper to do the league. It would cost you $80 to get 28 min of seat time at RA, vs the $75 ea for 5 members with 30+ min of seat time.. on linked tracks... and they're having a buffet to boot... included. Add in the seat time for practice and qualifying...

RA wins again!

no, i am doing it with my cousin, brother, and a guy we work with. that guy, ron young, is one of the owners.

there were a few laps under 25 done there before they switched the karts over to track 2. i've been barely getting under 26. i keep screwing up the last two corners before the straight. obviously, the worst corners to screw up and it is costing me dearly.

I find the corner that you're going to lost the most time in is the corner AFTER the straight. Where to you start braking? Hard? Soft to hard to settle the kart? Where do you start applying pedal pressure? For how long.

I think that's the key corner on the whole course where time can be lost (braking too much or not enough and sliding) or made (getting through there with the least amount of sliding/braking).

I'd be up for this but I have something else going on that weekend.

You need to go back Matt Deacon ran a 25.54 last night and I ran a 25.39. The league guys were running in the 25.3s for their fast laps, but I've seen 24.8s there.

i was in that league. everyone was running between 25.3 and 25.8 with one guy running in the 26's.

you must have raced right after us, obviously. 25.39 is fast, and incredibly fast if you don't go there much. damn, i suck. i haven't seen anything under 25 since they swapped the karts between track 1 & 2.

On a subaru note, my car was out front behind the M3. I don't know how that guy drives that thing all winter with all seasons on it.

Looks like I've been persuaded to go. Not sure what team I'll end up on. One group of 4 might take me on, but I wouldn't want to hurt anyone's seat time. Anyone interested who hasn't already found a team to put together a rag tag bunch?

You run 23.9's at Racing America? On the bigger track? That's impressive.

AH.....No. The motor makes all the "music" you need. Dragging my good name through the mud like that...Gold Star was/is teh awesome. So good that the Discovery Channel stole it.
