Question '02 WRX won't start

I've got spark and fuel pressure but no combustion. New MAF, crank and cam sensors. Even starter fluid doesn't get a pop. Ideas?

Has any work been done on the car recently? Anyone mess with the timing belt or anything like that? Did anyone take off the intake boots?

I guess they had to to replace the MAF. Start there. Look at all the ducts going to the MAF and the intercooler and stuff. If air doesn't pass through the MAF, you won't get fuel to the cylinders.

Where are you squirting starter fluid?

Repalced MAF because prior performance issues suggested it was faulty. Replaced other sensors out of desperation. Engine has less than 2k on it. Checked intake boots, all secure. Squirted fluid in hose behind airbox lid, re-attached lid. Immediately prior to no-start heard rattle or ping under any load. Timing belt not touched and is intact.

If it ran before you replaced the MAF (albeit poorly), trying putting the old MAF back in.

Didn't replace it until after no start. Thinking I should check valve timing. Seems like a stretch but nothing else adds up. After all the cranking, plug 1 isn't wet with fuel either. Haven't checked others yet.

Anyone know a good, honest WRX mechanic in San Jose?

I guess your timing belt could've slipped. A compression check will provide some info, too.

You say you have fuel pressure, does that mean that your injectors are 100% spraying fuel? Cause you metioned that your plugs weren't wet, which makes me think that maybe your injectors are back or something to that affect, I would check them all just in case. Air, Fuel, and Ignition check them all.
