Hey guys I am swaping my 99rs for a 2004 STI engine and tranny with full wirring harness, I was wondering anybody would be able to refer me to a good shop located in eastern canada either ontario or Quebec. If I have to go down to the states make it somewhere around New York no farther than that! thanks guys I really appreciate if you can help me out!

Just wondering, what is the ballpark price these shops charge for a conversion?

Swaps can cost anywhere from $1500-7000 depending on what you are having done and who you go to. If you are just having an engine done it's a lot less then if one puts in the entire drivetrain. You should also take into account the shops experience, how many swaps they've done and how quick they can turn it around. Most swaps will take 2-3 weeks. If a shop says they can have it done in a week and will only charge you $1500 they are completely full of it, it's just not doable as the wiring alone is worth a good $1200 worth of labor. Shoot me a PM and I'll give you some more details and options that you can explore.

Yes you should. Your time is worth a lot more than you think it is.

Hehe,

Sup subyrscanada.
Funny bumping into your post. I've been trying to find a run down on the swap myself.
I sware I had come across a complete run down in Scoobymods but I can't find it.
You will have to email pics when you get yours done as Im sure it will take me 2 months for me to get mine done. Unless wiring isnt as bad as people say.

I'll have to one up you there. When I did my '02 USDM my car was not functional for 25 hours. The swap started on a Friday night and Saturday night I was listening to my turbo spool

Other swaps have taken a little longer due to parts that were missing and needed to be sourced.

Provided you have the cats that are needed on the car and you don't have any CEL's you will not have any issues passing emmisions.

i agree. i emailed iain for a quote and got a very resonable price from him regarding a few different options. If all goes well for me, I will be either shipping the car out to him or driving from winnipeg to guelph =D. Hopefully this summer =D

From their reputation, I fully trust them w/ my impreza.

I wonder if they do sponsorships? =D

Send me your racing resume and maybe we'll have something to talk about. For a swapped Impreza the only real areas of racing you can do are autocross, timetrials or ice racing. Road racing there is no class for swapped Subarus.

True, but the class and PAX in Autox for a swapped Impreza really bites. Poor me, I will just need to content myself with FTD.

HAHA who cares about the PAX. You should be gunning for FTD if you've got a fast enough SM Impreza.
