Default paint defect?

I just noticed today while washing my car... My paint is split near the rear fender well!!

The rubber trim that goes around the inner "lip" area of the left rear fender also comes off very very easily (it's actualy fallen partly off once while driving), and the corner near the top, right where the sheet metal makes its first 90 deg bend towards the inside of the fender, there's a ~1/2 crack in the paint!!

now, the car is a COMPLETELY stock 04 STi... no reasone for this to happen. so I'm wondering what could've happened there?? It looks like something that could happen if I had rolled my fenders, but I didn't do anything to them.

what do you think the dealership will do about this????

This is not something you need to worry will be attributed to "driver abuse/error". Give Subaru and your dealer the benefit of any doubt and let them take care of it. You will find out as soon as they look at it. Possibly the Dealer will defer to the Subaru Rep for a descision, but you will find out soon enough.

ok, here's the update... sorry for not posting sooner...

I have finals week right now, and 5 finals to study for so I've been really busy. Woke up at 6am for no apparent reason today, so I went to South Coast Subaru and had them take a look at it. The manager took a look at it, took down my info, and told me that the SOA rep would have to take a look at it when they come in. So I'm now just waiting for SCS to call me back to setup a date to bring my car in.

well, I guess I can get my insurance to cover it if SOA doesn't... I still have no idea how it happened though... plus, there's rust under there now, so it'll just eat away at more of the underlying sheet metal and cause more paint to flake off... plus it's rain/snow season now... T_T My baby has skin cancer!!

I remove the trunk badge and there was a very small chip in the paint under the badge. I used a hairdryer and my fingers to take it off.
