Default Missed a meeting! Help me make an excuse!

I'm so fired.

There was a meeting tonight at 7pm EST, and there was an email sent out on the 13th announcing it saying to reply if there was a good reason I couldn't be there. There was no good reason, and I planned on going, but I forgot! (Even though another email was sent out yesterday or two days ago.) I was only told of it once in person.

Oops.

Just own it. Look straight at them and say "I had my head completely up my *** and forgot." Don't wait for them to find you, though.

I open tomorrow morning, hehe..

I was planning on doing that, but if I find out I'm getting fired anyways, might as well have a good story.

Tell them you forgot, but then ask them what you can do to catch up on everything that happened. You have to make them believe that you take it seriously and that it is important to you.

tell them you had explosive diahrea -- it is so embarrasing that there is no way that you would say it unless you had it.

Got health insurance?
Go to the ER with general dizziness. Tell them you feel light headed. They'll put you up on the lift, check your oil and send you home. HMO's usually have a $50 - $75 ER copay. Call out of work tomorrow morning or right after you get back from the hospital if possible.
Go into work on monday with an ER discharge slip and tell them you must have got the flu or something but you are feeling better now. With a trip to the ER I doubt they could/would fire you.

Reinact a gruesome scene with these. I bet you'll even get a sympathy promotion!

Tell them you had to bring your friend to the hospital emergency, than have someone from nasioc call on your behalf.

I have a better story. I was trolling around my mailbox a couple of years ago and I noticed an email from the CEO from a week prior that I hadn't read. I thought it was the usual company wide BS, but opened it and it was an email from him to me about what a great job I was doing, blah blah blah, here's some more $$$$, etc. What was worse was that I'd seen him in the hallway between when he'd sent it and when I read it, and had just said "hey"; the guy probably thought I was an ungrateful a-hole.

Anyway, I grovelled back with a "thanks for the recognition" and a George Costanza-esque "sorry I was too busy saving the company to read your email last week".
