Cool JDM H.I.D conversion for 280.00 on ebay

Just wanted to tell everyone the great deal on ebay from a company called japan8000k inc.
I got the kit for 280.00 on there ebay site but they also have another official website www.JapanJdm.com .The kit was easy to install, but had to drill a hole in the plastic cap that covers the back of the headlight but it was very easy.

The kit is 8000k and very blue. It's one of the nicest lights i've seen on the road They also give you a one yr warranty.

You can check out pics on ebay just look for there store, also it took 4 days fro m the day i ordered So I call that fast shipping

Looks pretty shady to me. The company looks like it's just one guy working from his house or office which is pretty typical for HID kit vendors nowadays since all retrofit kits are illegal to sell in the US. Also 8000K is too blue/purple for maximum usable light, OEM HIDs are all 4100K which is the proper color for good light output with minimal glare.
The results with retrofits into the 04/05's haven't been good, I realize you've already bought this kit but before installing it you may want to look for threads by people who have already tried this and ended up removing them or buying a set of STi lights instead. You can begin by reading through the HID FAQ up top in this forum.

The problem with retrofits into factory halogen reflector housings is that they aren't designed to work with the increased light output of HID bulbs, and while you will get lots of bright light it won't be well controlled so oncoming drivers will experience glare. Retrofits of this type are the reason the NHTSA banned all sales of aftermarket HID kits in 2003.

Let's see the beam pattern, too. And maybe some head-on pics from various heights...

Unfortunately you really can't tell much from head-on pics of headlights. The camera doesn't resolve the light the way the eye does, so all you see is a bunch of bright light. A pic of the light against a wall may be helpful in evaluating the beam pattern and cutoff but not the true amount of light.

Hm...I guess you could play with exposure settings and other parameters to try to get it to work...but yes, you're probably right.

Let's see those pics!

Suppose you're going to do a retrofit in a car like the new Legacy GT (which has projectors)... What would the negatives of installing a 6000K kit be vs. a 4100K? Are you saying that beyond the color difference, that the 4100K kit will light up the road better?

Yes, that is correct. Also even though the car may have OEM projectors, the optics of those projectors are still designed for halogens so a retrofit won't give the same lighting results as OEM HID projectors.

Retrofitting OEM HID projectors is probably your best option for the new Legacy.

I can attest to this. I put HIDs in my STI EDM halogen projector housings. I first used 6000k bulbs, but a couple months ago switched to 4100k Philips bulbs. It made a huge difference in my eyes, especially when the road conditions were anything but dry. Just my experience though.
