Question Stock WRX 02 exhaust swap

I found a stock 2002 WRX exhaust for really cheap, but I have a 96 Impreza coupe so I'm guessing I cannot swap the whole thing. I am wondering if it is worth buying it and use parts of it and if so wich parts would be worth taking? Any info would be great. Thanks.

Andy

Here is someone else's log of experiences w/ this.

I'm in the same boat, I'd like to put the WRX cat-back that I got for nothing on for the time being.

Apparently we need to fab an extension. I'm looking into having the old exhaust cut at the flanges and re-welded to form an adapter. Just need to find a shop that'll do it for near nothing. This should also allow the car to use most cat-backs for the WRX, but the aftermarket ones may be too loud given that there is no turbo plumbing to dampen the sound.

It'll fit with the exception of the one hanger on the muffler.

Thanks for the info, but I just want to be sure that you are catching the fact that I have a coupe and the exhaust in question is off a WRX (hence longer body) so I'm imagining that instead of creating an extension, I need to remove a section.

the wrx and an old coupe impreza awd is "basically" the same underneath...the cat back will fit all besides the hanger at the front of the muffler..ive got a helix cat back on my 1999 impreza coupe that was meant for a wrx and it fits good...just use kartboy or equivilent exhaust hangers for a nice sway free tight system...although i did weld a new flange to my cat to accept the helix flat flange...but the stock ball gasket wrx system will work for you guys
