Ive heard many people with problems about boost spike or high EGT's with AP's and I would like to have people post some information to help solve problems. Ill start first of course so please chip in.
Vehicle Type: MY'05 WRX Sedan Base Map: Stage 2 91 oct CALIF map Real Time Map: Stage 2 91 oct CALIF map Mods: Perrin Lightweight Crank Pulley, Perrin IC hoses, Helix CATTED DP, USDM STI Axleback, DC flex up-pipe. Boost @ WOT: ~14.5psi in 3rd-5th gear read with AP EGT: 1500 WOT in 4th and 5th going about 90+ Miles on car: approx. 6000 Problems: Low boost Reasons: Stock Catback with High flow catted DP (?) 05 wrx sedan 5spd
stg 2 91 octane stg 2 91 octane JDM(dont know name) dp with hollowed out cat, custom bent cat back. 10-18.1(5th gear pull from 2500rpm) boost spike and surging 14500 wastegate actuator arm out of adjustment called cobb and was told to reset ecu, reload stg 2 base and turn wastegate actuator arm about 1/8" tighter. boost is steady at 16.5-17 in 5th WOT. ecu is still learing so giving it about a week to work its self if. |

Cobb says its a mechanical problem and to check all hoses & clamps. Everything looks ok & still seeing low boost. My stg 2.5 feels the same as my stg. 2 did! Solutions: ??? |

off topic but i have a question. so i should set the base map as what ill be running? ...and what should the real time map be? could it be nothing? ill be running stage 2.. would i want a real time map being stock mode? thanks.

Im not gonna touch the HWG maps untill i get EGT Guage installed as well as something to detect knock. Low boost was attributed to the stock catback in addition to the catted DP. Im putting off the 3in catback till i can get more money for it.

Base Map:Stage 2 93 oct ver 1.20 Real time: Not explicitly loaded Mods: Cobb DP (catted), PDE UP, Hushback CB, Perrin IC hoses, Protorque converter, real tires Boost @WOT: 1.15 bar Miles on car: Just over 4,000 Problems: None I ran stage 1 for a while with just the catback, then added an uppipe, and finally a DP and a reflash to stage 2. I adjusted the wastegate arm just a tad to reduce the flutter I had after adding the DP and I did experience very minor spikes but the ECU learned around it pretty quick. Although I've had no "known" problems, I'm not running an EGT gauge or a knocklink (so every time I read a thread like this it leaves me wondering. . ). Consequently, I don't run it real hard.
