Default Need Advice: COBB Stage 2.5 Boost Issues

Anyone out there ever experience low boost @ stg. 2.5? If so, how did you solve the problem?

I am only hitting 12psi in 3rd and 13psi in 4th WOT. I had the same issue @ stg. 2, although my boost was fine before I installed the Accessport (i.e. stock).

Cobb recommended to reflash with stg 2.5 base map and drive conservatively for 70 miles. I did, and see no difference in boost levels

Cobb then said it must be a mechanical problem and to look at the hoses and clamps and make sure they are ok. I checked and everything looks fine: no holes/cracks in the hoses, all clamps are tight, and the stock wastegate hose has the restrictor pill in the correct location.

Just looking for some ideas that may help me solve this frustrating problem. My stage 2.5 feels the same as my stage 2!!

Thanks

I've seen so many of these posts. . . .

I personally think it has to do with the restrictor pill. Try to get a smaller pill in the hose zander. Either drill out the one that's there, or try to find one with a bigger opening in it.

When I first had my vf34 put on, I would hit 21 psi with the vf34 hoses. I put the stock ones on, and only hit 12.

I called cobb and they sent their hose, and I hit target boost every day from that day on. Cobb has stated they have "tuned" around the stock hose, but it doesn't appear so.

Ask Cobb EXACTLY what does their hose consist of, and how can you get one (if not from them, how to make your own).

good luck.

I also use the cobb restrictor and usually hit target boost, but ever since the cold weather I've been hitting 20psi. Yesterday at full boost my cel turned on, do you guys think thats what caused the cel to turn on?

Does anyone know where to source a smaller sized restrictor pill?? I believe the stock is 1.2mm I'm looking for a 1.1mm or 1.0mm

I think my wastegate is opening to soon. I am going to try a few smaller sized restrictor pills. lf that does not work, I am going to change out the spring in the wastegate actuator for something stronger.

Nope...I've had mine for awhile and have never had any problems. I also have a Hyperflow TMIC and have had headers on the car and the AP had no problems with any of it. All cars are a little different...you're experiences may vary.

i had a problem of hitting only .093 on my setup and i went back and tightend all of my hoses and put a new hose on my bov. and i was hitting target pressure after that. i dont know if something was just lose or if the hose was the problem but it fixed what was wrong. i have a fmic on my setup also so i have a few more clamps.

Default Money...

Make sure you are not running any factory CATs.

If you are that could hurt. With the "Full" Scooby sport TBE 2.5" no cats or resonator I hit 1.2 bar in 3-5th pretty steadily.

With the factory resonator section put back in for sound reasons I can hit about 1.15-1.18 bar in the high gears.

Mods include and upPipe, and JDM STI IC (FYI)

Anyway blah blah, ditch the cats and free up the exhaust.

I took the advice of both Cobb and Deadbolt, and used a smaller diamater restrictor pill to solve my low boost problem. However, my situation is a bit different than others since my low boost was attributed to the BlackHole wastegate port. I now hit between 16 and 16.5psi. I have no PTFB, boost spikes, or oscillating boost levels. It took awhile to find the "perfect" orifice size, but now the car is running great. I plan on getting a custom tune via AccessTUNER in the near future.
