Default Time gap betw. wrenching stage 4 and teh tune

Running stage 3 right now and looking at 'bout a month between the stage 4 surgery and a UTEC dyno tune. Should I put off the operation -- 18g, 800cc (Perrin swaps), and a Walbro -- until right before driving the dyno?

I anticipate some pre-tune idle probs. Any cautions about how to drive between wrench day and tune day?
