Default Programming immobilizer keys

Hi all,

new Sti owner here. I am wondering if anyone knows how or has published how to program new immobilizer keys? I did a search with no luck.

As far as I am aware, you need the Select Monitor and ALL keys present to add a key to the system. In other words, the dealership does it .

The documents described at http://techinfo.subaru.com/html/ixSe...e=11&training= should explain the procedure.

Just thought I would check. Mazda had the same story initially, then someone found in the service manual the 5 min procedure to do it yourself without paying the stealer, I mean, dealer $100.

Unfortunately, they state you need a Select Monitor and the Immobilizer Cartridge for it to program keys. Looks like no easy end-user method to program them.

There is no way to do it manually. You can program the remote manually, but not the key. Maybe someone should make an aftermarket programming unit for the immobilizer

I'm suprised that it is not doable. All you really need to do is "teach" the immobililzer the new key code. It must be a different system than my Miata. On the Miata you go through several steps to put the immobilizer in "learn" mode. Evidently TI makes a lot of the immobilzer chips (and made recent headlines due to someone "cracking" it) but the Miata had another brand beside TI. I had an extra key for a Miata so I tore it apart to see how it works. Oh well, I guess I will not make a backup key at this point.

You should have 3 keys for your car....2 regular keys and a 'valet' key...

Well, First, where is the immobilizer, and anyone know how to remove it to go get it programmed with keys.

Also, what if you have a reflashed ECU (05 MY) and its not the original. SO then the immobolizer doesn't see the ecu and it don't start. SO, If I take my ecu to the dealer with the immobilizer and keys, can he program it all? Also the link above doesn't work it wants money for the tb, can you copy it and paste it to a useable link?

the car, original ECU and all keys must be present to have keys programmed. It has to be done with the Select Monitor and a special cartridge
