does anyone know how far the ej20g pistons come out of the block when they are at TDC?
or maby does anyone know the compretion ratio to a ej20G short block, ej20g pistons, and ej205 heads(usdm)? kirill mods if this is in the wrong forum u can move it...

heh uhh I'm no engine expert or anything but the EJ20G pistons don't come out of the block at all. since it is a turbo engine it should be dished. IIRC comp ratio is like 9.5:1

Assuming you have the block just measure it. A cheap dial indicator will work fine. If you know(or measure) the CC of the piston and combustion chamber and gasket volume you can easily calculate compression ratio. Finding someone on this board that knows that info is very unlikely.

Do a search for my name and read my previous EJ20G posts. I think someone said how far they come out, I don't remember.
As for compression, the EJ20G I believe has 8.5:1 with it's own heads. The CC of the heads has also been covered in one of my previous posts. I can vouch that the pistons go out of the block, that's how they get the extra half a point of compression. I have the EJ20G sitting in my garage right now waiting for some love... What are you hopin to get out of it?
I'm only going for about 250hp, but I want it extra reliable for road racing and ease on the tranny. Here is my setup. Stock 30,000 mile EJ20 block with freshened seals Rebuilt EJ22 N/A heads with reground cams and very minor porting. EJ18 intake manifold 370cc Legacy injectors 160 degree thermostat TD04L turbo at 10-14psi Stock WRX intercooler Rx7 TT fuel pump Stock 1.8 ECU with Greddy E-Manage. 2.5RS clutch and flywheel I want this to last about 100,000 miles and see a LOT of track days before another rebuild. The tranny might not make it much longer, if so I'll put a WRX tranny in. Chad www.uniquemotorsports.com |

Yes, it does clear the deck. No I haven't measured mine or my piston dish. The CR with the Ej205 heads will be higher than the 8.5:1 the EJ20G came with stock. The EJ20G heads have 57cc head volume, IIRC the EJ205 is around 45cc or thereabouts. Check EJ calcs for the exact number as I am too lazy to look it up or to reverse the math to find all the numbers. Bore and stroke for all EJ20's is the same for all generations...
