Default stock egt vs aftermarket

ive searched already so if you find something helpful please pint me without flaming me

my question is that besides location is there any reason why we would not wnat to use our factory egt with lets say a psi3 display system?
is the operating range different in the stock sensor that of the aftermarket or is it just the preciseness as with 5 wire 02 to 4 wire 02?

i understand with location it does not gauge acurately due to the distance from the echaust ports themselves, but this can be compensated for by simply running slighty cooler temps but staying withing the same degree change as someone else running theres closer to the ports( i hope you understand what i am trying to say)

i hope someone will be able to help me out here, i guess i am calling for the real specialists on this one

and oh yeah if i am in the wrong forum please advise me to move

Thanks in advance
Andre

If you still have the uppipe cat, than the stock EGT location is completely useless since it will be severely skewed simply by radiant heat from the glowing-hot cat. You might as well just put some blinking lights in your dash - they'd be about as useful.

in that case, your readings will be extraordinarily damped... I'm not clear what your aversion to putting the probe where it belongs is. . .

as by damped i am not sure of wat you mean....
what i am saying is that the firther away from the exhaust port the cooler the gas will be(correct me if i am wrong). so if i do some kinna calculation to figure out the percentage loss(educated guess), and note the difference between highest and lowest temp, and compare to other wrx's, i should be in good shape providing i have the same temp range....
but im vering away from the topic....

i wanted to know what is wrong with the stock sensor besides location thats all becasue i am thinking about running the psi3 dispaly and then wbo2 with its own display and want to know if stock egt will be good enough for tuning purposes...

and U.Scotty scared of the install is the last thing....i did 4 installs of uppipes already which to me that requires the most work. (ps i am a technician for acura hence the not being scared part)
