Default Tranny Swap

I tried to find what I could about this.

I was looking into swapping my auto 99 Legacy SUS to manual.

My car has many wonderful mods but it needs to be manual!

I have a friend who works at the local subaru dealer who could do it for me.

What do I need and how would it work and what do you think of prices.

Tranny
Master Cyl
Slave Cyl
Cable
Pedals
Does it need a new ECU from a Manual?
(friend has shifter from a WRX)

Thanks for the help

Interior Shifter trim plate…
MT tranny crossmember assembly...

What about your gear ratios, I doubt they would be the same from a legacy auto to the 5mt. This means you would have to either swap the rear diff, or change out the R&P…

As for ECU, I don’t think you’ll get a clear answer. There’s several different ways to go to get around the TCM. Some folks have kept it in place, some had gotten rid of it all together.

If you don’t already have a plan for to address the TCM, you may want to do some more searching. I recall a number of threads regarding this topic, including some with problems bypassing the TCM…

Good luck to ya…

damn, did you miss the other two or three 4EAT-> MT threads on the first page in the conversion section?

Normally I'll try to be helpful but I know that in the last week there has been at least 2 threads like this.
