Post Can't figure out whats wrong with my car

Finally found where the chirping sound was coming from. It sounded like a bird caught in a blender. Decided not to fix it.

That mysterious hesitation has mysteriously disappeared making it impossible to diagnose it. I'm hoping it was something left over from a bad ecu reset (or bad gas) on Sunday so it shouldn't come back again.

And I've still got to find and eliminate the minor creaks coming from the dash and ceiling panels. Not to mention the bumper lean so common on all our cars.

Anyone know how to get the throttle body off the car to clean it?

Andrew - use a wrench

Why not just use some cleaner spray it will be much easier.

The chirping sound is coming from the crankcase breathers. Getting both vaccum and pressure from these lines depending on the stroke, only happens when warm.

I don't want to use throttle cleaner because I can't run the engine with the intake off. Better to take the whole throttle body off and clean it off the car. Maybe even do the intake runners as well..

(I nominate myself most anal Subaru owner in the MWSOC.)

@ rao

I went nuts looking around for the cause of my chirping, almost ordered a fricken water pump (yes even though it's electric-- shaddup ) and then I saw someone comment that the UDP only take 90lb/ft. Uh oh...

Besides the chirping I have no problem. Belts are fine, and I've had way worse belt alignment on some fine (cough BEATERS cough) chevrolets I've owned in the past.

Chirping is coming from the catch can for the crankcase breathers.

8Complex helped my fix the UDP a long time ago (last year).

Car still seemed rough, but maybe it was me being tired as the ride even seemed rough today.

Do you have an underdrive pulley? I think I overtorqued mine and warped it, and I have a chirping noise under acceleration.

Uh, oh - Andrew has an unerdrive pulley and if there is potential problem caused by overtorquing, I'd bet good money that Andrew has the problem

BTW, Andrew, I just bought a new 4:1 gear reduction breaker bar that should twist to over 1000 ft.lbs - you can borrow it sometime

Mmmmmmm... 1000ft-lbs. of torque.... that reminds me, I should re-tighten my strut top-hat nuts.
