How do you want to lower the car? I think it will depend. If you want Whiteline stuff then yes, PDM would be the place to purchase stuff. If you want...well what do you want?

I doubt there is a shop that "specializes" in lowering subarus. But any licensed mechanic shop would do fine. Just remember to take it to a GOOD alignment shop, that's wut really counts. (i.e. Max's auto frame)

Honestly, a licensed mechanic would charge upwards of $80+/hr and on such a simple job, it simply isn't worth it IMHO.

That's very true. If he knows someone he could trust who is NOT a licensed mechanic that could do the job, by all means go for it. But if he doesn't, I would recommend a licensed mechanic as opposed to a non-licensed one... is all I'm saying. fuka, I'm sure you can do a great job but it's up to him to trust you with his car. But all things aside, alignment is, I think, the most important. Given the fact that all parts are installed correctly of course...

Definately. I just don't think many people want to spend $300 to lower a car just throuhg a licensed mechanic. The more hardcore jobs I would go nowhere else but a licensed mechanic.

Do it yourself, it's really not that hard. Read through the directions on Scoobymods for removing and installing strut assemblies. If you're going with coilovers or already assembled units, that's all you need to do. If you're swapping springs on your existing struts, just take the assemblies and springs to any garage and have them put the new springs on and reassemble the units, then install them yourself. Obviously you'll either need a second car handy or a nearby garage for this, as your car will be sitting on jackstands.

After you've got everything put back together, just head to a good alignment shop.
