Hey guys and gals,
I've got an opportunity to pick up some really cheap EVO 8 recaros that are almost brand new. They're very comfy, and much better than my ratty old seats. The only concern I've really got is this: they don't have a quick release lever so swing the seats forward, and I've only got two doors. Getting people in and out of the back may be a bit of a problem. Anybody put any fixed-back front seats in an RS coupe? How much of a pain in the ass was it to get people in and out of the back seat? Is it worth the effort for great seats, or will it be more pain that it's worth? Thanks, Adam

I second that. After all it is not like you have to st back there, so it's only a pain for them!

I think you'd be OK, its just a pain in the ass to move the seat forward everytime someone wants in or out.

Do the Evo seats unbolt to be able to use standard Recaro seat frames?
VW's Recaro seats in the 20th AE GTI and GLI do not, they only fit in the MKIV VWs. ![]() |

Did you ever get the seats and put them in your Impreza?
I'm curious if they are a direct swap or not. Or if the Impreza rails can be transfered over. Thanks - Jon |

Did you ever get the seats installed?
I did it for my car. I didn't think anyone else would have tried it. It took a lot of work, but it was worth it. Since the Evo seat rails are about 1.5 inches narrower than the RS rails, I made an extension braket and used the RS mounting brakets. They are much better than the stock seats. You sit lower and better in line with the pedals. If I had more posts I'd post a link to a picture of my seats. |

You realize you could have just gotten Wedge Engineering brackets for the recaros? I was going to buy some Evo Recaros at some point and do this so I was looking into it.
if you want me to post pictures, send em to me, keith22b@aol.com ... im curious as to how they fit, etc. keith |

I have a fixed back bucket in my RS. I don't have any problems as long as you only do it to the driver seat. That way rear passengers can get out the passenger side instead of the driver side. I like this because people won't get in your way when you get in a out of your car.

There was quite a bit of discussion about this a few months ago and I never saw the resolution as to whether it was possible to buy brackets and fit them to the evo seats and swap them into our cars... Much appreciated if you do have any more info. |

I wasn't aware that anyone was making brakets for the evo seats to fit a subie. I figured I'd just make my own for cheep, and have them done that weekend.
I was also under the impression that the evo seats are custom made for the evo by recaro. I'm not sure on this though. |

The Evo Recaros are just that, Recaros! So Wedge Engineering brackets should work without an issue. You already get the sliders, you just need the brackets to bolt them to the car. Sparco or others might even work too. keith |

just an excuse to not haul anyone around - and in the event that you have to take more than 1, just make the passenger do it,
problem solved laziness is key - tell them its the fee for riding around in a car with nice seats |
