Question Aussie moving to Canada - Questions....

Hey guys... I'm moving to Vancouver in September and have a few questions regarding he purchase of an STi:

- On top of the actual cost of the car; what other fees/taxes are involved and how much are they?

- As the EVO MR is not avail in Canada; am I able to cross the border into the US and pick one up? Is this legal? Will it cost me additional fees?

- Which insurance company/s do you recommend?

- Where can I purchase personalised plates from in Vancouver, BC?

- If I chose to purchase a used car; are there checks I can do before purchasing?

Cheers guys
Bretto

1)7% GST, 7% PST, and luxury tax I think is 5%?

2) Importing a EVO MR is illegal unless it is registered in the States with States insurance but that is highly illegal.

3) Our insurance company is ICBC. Everybody buys insurance from the Crown corporation. Run by the government.

4) Personalized plates are from ICBC. $100 one time fee and $40/year. The plates takes 2 months to process.

5) Used cars can be inspected by a local delaership for a minimal cost. STi's are selling for $36,000CAD used.

haha... Well I'll need a few mates when I get over there so we'll need to catch up for a "rex cruise/how to pickup birds like an aussie" event.

Cheers

We don't mind the Canadian accent. Its just the New Zealand accent that bugs us

No online check.
You write your favourite 3 license plates in priority order and they'll process it.

I had "STI LYN" before..LoL!
I was going to get GOT AWD or GOT 2NV or VRM PSH

I've never been a fan of black wheels but I like the clean look of the car.
