Manchester Subaru? Which dealer?

Was this something lying around they wanted to get rid of or are they offering these to any/everyone at this price?

Hey everyone, lot of questions.,lol. first the wink was just me being nice and yes the price is true. i bought 2 of them, 1 for me and i for my dad for $598.00. i have my receipt here and it shows the part number on the receipt as l0010ls010(hard cover). my dad works at a used car dealership and we got a small discount for him working there. the guy st the dealership in the parts department say's for $345.39, so i got about $46.00 off because of that. even at the reatail price of $345.39 seems like a great deal. as far as pictures goes i'll see if i can post a link here for you. here's the pic.
let me know what you guys think? oh yeah the dealership is at manchester subaru in NH.

Bed Cover
Unique weather-resistant vinyl and plastic cover helps protect bed cargo area from the elements. Vinyl cover may be rolled up and secured to access bed area.

That is the normal one they sell the plasic and Vinyl

Cliff If you didn't get the leather with the auto trans you will not get the coveted hard top that is the only model to get it

If you didn't get it PUT UP A BIG STINK..

hmmm... wonder if they would do a kind of group buy on that? I see several sales here.

Only the turbo leather packages have it standard.

How does it install? Is there a lot of drilling?

Hello Mr. Holland:

You are welcome. I am sorry, as Subaru of America cannot assist with
selling Subaru products. We only sell to Subaru dealerships. You can only
purchase genuine Subaru parts and accessories through an authorized Subaru
dealership.

Thank you for the opportunity to be of assistance. If you need any future
assistance, please feel free to contact us again.

Best wishes,

John,
Thank you for your reply and I would tell you that the cost of only the
parts would be over 2000 not installed. If you could arrange for me to get
the parts I would gladly pay for them but i think you would agere that 2000
is a quite a large differance from the other hard tops out there. I'm
assuming that even if there was a large learning curve to placing this part
on the Baja most subaru owner oftem mod their car/trucks and I would be
willing to take on the project.

the one that i purchased IS the hard cover NOT the roll up one. sorry if the pick is wrong, the hard cover one has the lock, the roll up one does not. i bought the hard cover with the lock, it even says on the receipt(hard cover) that i've got. i beleive there is a total of 3 differemt covers for the baja, 1 is the roll up soft cover, 2nd is the hard cover vinyl/plastic(the one i got) and 3rd is the hard cover that i beleive is color matched to your vehicle. i hope that clears up any confusion in this thread. when i receive it i'll post up some pics so people can view it and see what they think.

Yes, that's what I meant by a group buy... through the dealership... not SOA corporate. I haven't had too much luck with SOA in the past... heck, when I went to their website to contact them about a (lack of) parts issue with the Brat, it wouldn't accept my 10 digit VIN... it's their red-headed stepchild. I had to lie to the computer to get into the system?! Now they won't accept my applicaton to Mysubaru.com because I bought my Baja used and they want proof that I own it. LOL! It's funny because waaaay back when when I had a Brat that I bought used, they found me to notify me of a recall they had on it... way, way before computers were commonplace.

So... how does the cover install onto the car?

regardless of what your receipt states, if its vinyl, its not a "hard" cover, or at least the one that people are interested in.
If i can stick one of my spydercos thru it to get to your goods, its not the hard cover. I suspected it was probably the standard oem cover and it looks/sounds like it is.

So if this: isn't it, the snuglid, then you simply purchased the same circa $400 soft cover that's been available at dealers for some time now. Just at a better price for said reasons.

it's not that one that you have posted there, it's ther one in the middle that i posted from above.(choice number 2 with the lock in the end of it) or yes the oem one that come with the 05 baja turbo's here. i beleive there is a total of 3 differemt covers for the baja, 1 is the roll up soft cover, 2nd is the hard cover vinyl/plastic(the one i got) and 3rd is the hard cover that is color matched to your vehicle.

The soft cover has a different part number. At www.subaruparts.com they list the soft cover at 340 something and they list a hard cover(using 02 wrx sleeper's part number) at 299. But they don't show a picture of the hard cover.

02 Sleeper,
when you get your cover I'd like to see it, then head over to Manch Vegas Subaru and get one. When do you expect to get it? Do you have a digicam? I could take pics and post them so these Baja freaks will be calmed

edit: I'm calling my dealer today. I'll give them that part number and see what they say. That # is definately not the soft cover, though I doubt it is the 05 leather pkg Penda cover.
edit2: The 05 penda cover has 3 locks.

Is this it?

This is the Penda, from the '02 Detroit Auto show.

Also, just a technical note. There isn't an "oem" hard bed cover. Penda and Snugtop have a relationship whereby SOA dealers can order their covers. There isn't a Subaru-made hard bed cover as of yet.

Subaru DOES have a hard cover and does come on the Turbos with leather but noone can get them yet..

OK I talked to two subie dealers and I hate to inform you guys of this but that part number comes back to the Hard peice of plastic that is part of thr vinyl-pastic cover One deal said they are sure of that because someone steped on their's and they needed to order a new one.

I hope I'm wrong but

PS the dealer was saying they are discontinuing the baja next year

My wife called our dealer today. That part number is indeed the plastic peice that goes with the soft vinyl cover, the sport bar to bulkhead portion.

I like the one peice Penda. We're having a hard time nailing down who has them and price.
I guess I'll be calling Texas next.
http://www.truckaccessorystore.com/new_product.htm <---look half way down the page at the silver Baja.

The 1200 they want for the Snugtop is retarded.

I wouldn't call that thing a hard cover, plus no one can buy them separately to begin with. Its like taking baby steps towards the snuglid and Penda. Its still essentially a soft cover.

Its the best option imo, but agreed.

I think i'll trade in the Baja for a Subaru hybrid in a few years.
