Exclamation Major Cooling\Overheat issues.

Hello all,

Been a while all, hope all is well. My ol' 98 is having some major issues and I need a hand.

My 98 2.5 RS has been overheating due to air getting into the cooling system from "somewhere" The somewhere has been a mystery as there are no visible signs of leeks or bleeding. RUn the thing on the highway for about 10 minutes, and viola you are missing about 2 quarts of coolant.

After over 2 weeks at the dealer, 2 new thermostats, a new water pump, numerous drains, fills, pressure checks and leak checks, they (the dealer folks) say I have either a warped head or a blown head gasket. None of the local shops want to touch it. Dealer wants about $1500 to fix it.

ANyone have some experience with something like this?

Much thanks in advance

Dan "Flyin 555"

If you're loosing coolant, and there isn't any leaks, it's more than likely going out the tail pipes. Is your car smoking white smoke, or smoking more than usual?
My guess is Head Gasket(s) are leaking and hopefully you didn't crack a head(s).

Yeah, just got off of the horn with the dealer. Looks like a tear down is in order. This is going to suck the savings account dry. Probably going to redo all of the seals (Cam, front, rear, etc) while he is in there, figure why not, it has 140,000 miles on it.
Grumble grumble grumble.
