you need a wrx front engine crossmember or an old legacy turbo crossmember, and everything lines up. Im using stock RS motor mounts for my wrx engine. Use a wrx fuel pump or get a walbro if u dont want to upgrade it later on. use stock wrx fuel injectors untill u need bigger. You need to buy the wrx whole wiring harness and merge the wrx/rs harness to wire it up.

damn those noobs hahah
all subaru engine bays are pretty close to the other there isn't anything MAJORLY different compared to honda's were the accord engine bay is pretty different from the civic or so on and so forth so if u want to throw an XT motor in your impreza or a Legacy motor in your baja for whatever reason it all bolts up. |

not to mention the wiring... this is NOT any easy swap, like putting a b16 into a civic or something.

yes, you would only need the crossmember to use the stock wrx manifold/uppipe setup, which most use

The physical swap is the easy part. The wiring is the PITA but obviously it's been done hundreds of times.
Check the other swap threads as to what else you'll need. -mykr. |

The MY99 L ratios are the same as the RS but with a 3.9 final drive. They'll be a little better because they're shorter. They'll feel like a non-RA tranny. Not that I've driven RA and non-RA but playing with gear ratios in GT3 does help out a lot. It'll be a little quicker with the RS tranny because of the 4.111 FD.

I only use GT3 to watch where the RPM drops verses speed. and if you don't think that's accurate...then I have nothing more to say. I've stuck on 2.5RS ratios, L ratios, USDM STi ratios.... the rpm drops to where it would in the real cars I've ridden in. It IS the best simulator that I've use to watch where the rpm drops via going through gears.
ANYWAY! People who've done swaps using the RS tranny like it more than say the USDM WRX tranny. The gearing is shorter than the WRX gear and ALSO the final drive is 4.111 making it good for street and track. I wouldn't want the RS gears though if I was track racing the car because it's not short enough. I would perfer the RA gears with 4.444 final drive, IMO. The final drive is only 50% only IMO. Because gearing helps aid acceleration. If you have really sucky gear ratios, a final drive wouldn't help much. |

I've done the swap.. on my 02 RS.. its really worth it.. but its better just getting a WRX alot of work real PITA.. 00 RS is really worth it.. well got questions let me know.. few things i'm not sure of.. fuel pump controller.. don't know anything yet.. it will throw a CEL without the fuel pump controller.. you have to wire it up manually.. other things i could try to help you guys.. I did the wiring I did all the work.. It took me a month and half.. to get everything right and perfectly.. running.. later.. ( if anyone know anything about fuel pump controller.. let me know.. I want to get rid of the CEL.. thanks..
