Default EJ20G head gasket

Alright, so I've heard that you cannot use the EJ207 head gasket on the EJ20G for a few reasons. On Cometics website, they list those 2 engines together. What is the truth? Who sells an aftermarket head gasket for the EJ20G? Thanks.

Brent

Has to do with piston potrusion height. I used the 207 gaskets on my engine, but I had different pistons and rods.

Best replacement gaskets for the earlier EJ20's is the steel ones from a V3,4.

Any idea where to get one? Wouldn't a Cometic 103mm gasket be thick enough?

I'm not looking for anything immediately, just searching the market. The Tomei head gasket is $350. I also emailed MRT to see if they had anything.

If you know what you need, Cometic will make a set to suit you. Contact them and speak to them directly....

I ordered the V3/4 stock steel gaskets from Japan. It worked out to about $40 Cdn each. I don't have that connection anymore but there is another company , IRS that does exporting parts from Japan.

The EJ20G gasket is .152 cm, like all the other phase I engines. You can actually use an EJ22T gasket on it if you are in a pinch. That's what we used on Bugman's EJ20G w/EJ22T heads...
