I always question wether to turbo my car or not. One thing about america is you can't drive as fast as you want. Cops bust you down for speeding. Not like in asia where you can speed all you want. Im saying is it really worth it to get a the RS to 200++ HP when you can't really use it to the max? Just wanted to hear some opinions on this topic

If it weren't for horsepower junkies like us, the whole world would be driving Toyota Echo's in search of ultimate fuel economy. You don't need power... you want it.

i would bet that most of the people here that do have 200+hp are people who autocross or actually go to the strip. i know of many many many hondas that meet every friday saturday to drag on 7th street and in hayward but every time i go there i never see suabrus(not going to those any more SHADY!!) i think most of subaru owners are pretty smart thats why they dont street race that much because they know driving fast in california on busy freeways in the middle of rush hour is not a smart idea. just because you cant drive fast on city streets doesnt mean you cant drive fast at the track.

It's more of a personal preference. I would really like my RS to have 200+ HP. That would be great! But, I am happy with my current N/A setup. I don't go to drag strips and do 1/4 miles every week. I barely go to autocrosses any more.
I personally would like to put a turbo on my car to gain experiences in turbo installations and to get more power out of my car. And, I am almost certain that I can do the installations, but it will take a lot of time and $$$. |

I am a brand new 01RS owner(under 200 miles to break-in completion). And since I haven't even really pushed the car, I'm not really sure what the stock RS can do, but I'm already trying to figure out just how much more hp I can get in there. (Of course, this I-Club is not helping.)
But I was wondering along the same lines... How much hp is enough ..200hp... 220hp... 230hp? or is it like Lays potato chips: "Can't have just a little more hp?" |

To me, its not about what is enough power, its how fast can I go. My ultimate goal (DEFINITELY NOT for my Impreza) is to get to 60 in 4seconds or less and have great handles. I dont care what HP number that is (most likely 400+) but that is my goal and I will try to get this car and my future cars a little closer to it.
