Thumbs up FS: Prodrive Oval Tip Axleback Exhaust

FS: Prodrive Oval Tip Axleback Exhaust - $300

Excellent condition. Used for 1.5 years (bought new and installed Aug 2003 @ Total Autosport). Off car as of today.

Sweet sounding and looking exhaust. Has that low boxer rumble that everyone loves, yet is arguably the quietest exhaust you can get. Direct bolt-on.

They're $600 new AND you can't get the oval tip anymore... only round tip.

I'm selling because I returned the exhaust back to stock.

I'll post pics if anyone needs it.

I love those wheels on your car, and it is a very nice exhaust. BUMP! I attest it sounds great.

Thanks Jamie! I love those wheels and wouldn't trade 'em for anything!

Here's some more pics I found:

Found them here: http://www.persiconi.com/wrx/mods/prodrivemuffler.html

Sound clips comparing Prodrive to stock also available here: http://www.weblumen.com/subaru/catback.html

It could be sound quality of the mp3's. The Prodrive adds to the low frequency sound... the rumble and burble.

It's like using only cheap computer speakers then getting your first set with a subwoofer. Night and day.

Thanks a_wolf! Yup, it does look awesome.

Can't keep it though. Love the look, but I wanted to go AS quiet in the cabin AS possible. Heck I'm even debating Yokohama AVS/db vs ES100 for my replacement tires. Man, I'm getting soft...

Your wagon looks sweet! Where did you get those STi front lips? Did you get those from the dealership and how much did you pay for those?

Sweet exhaust. I hope you're still keeping your car, Jim.

congrats subzero_Legacy_Gt!

I sold my oval-tip to rxwagon awhile back
You'll love the oval-tip -- it'll make you scoff at the tiny-in-comparison oval-tips that come on some Mercedes models (CLK?)

Also, the sound is exactly as jftam describes -- the sound clips don't do it justice.
The prodrive muffler is nicely subdued, with smooth low-toned/bassy/burbly tones that are only slightly noticeable from within the cabin -- with no droning.

Also, -- IIRC from my prodrive muffler install (also at TOTAL autosport, both round-tip and oval-tip) --

1. It's a good idea to get some longer SS bolts/nuts to fit the prodrive muffler's thicker flange (and your stock ones are probably very rusty/crusty already). I forget the size, but it can be found with some searching..

2. Get a new exhaust gasket.

3. You *might* have to dremel/grind some of your rear-diff protector (if you have it) to clear the prodrive muffler piping.

P.S. subzero_Legacy_Gt -- are you still interested in the STi red-stitched knob that I'm selling?

Got them from Specialty Subaru. I can't remember exactly how much... $100-150 a side?? You should just call the dealerships and ask them for a price.

Do you have a wagon? If yes, then you'll have to modify them to fit.

Yup... we did the exchange last night. Check with Ben Tang to see if he still has his or whether he sold it along with his car.

Hey Rick,

No worries on that front.

In fact, I got some Goodridge lines, speed bleeders, and Motul 5.1 installed at PDM on Sat morning. All in prep for the SCCBC driver training thing at the end of March : Ya wanna go too?

So I'll be keeping the car... I'm just getting old and soft ... and wanted something quieter.

Still love mine!! Although it's pretty grimy right now!

Just the other day, got to listen to it while a mechanic was bringing the car in at Specialty, and it pleasantly surprised me how "bassy" the exhaust sounds from outside the car.

Looks like you guys are updating the good ol'wagons.....time for another wagon meet!!

wagon meet sounds like a great idea -- I'll bring the muffler polish for your grimy oval-tip
