Roy Orbison, Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Jeff Lynne and Tom Petty = The Traveling Wilburies! Maybe not my exact 'dream band' (which would have to have Knopfler) but a pretty nice group.

hmm...i'm just trying to think of people who would stylistically gel...

vocals/rhythm guitar/backup keys - travis morrison (dismemberment plan)
keys - herbie hancock
bass - the original bassist from liars (can't remember his name)
drums - damon che (don caballero)
lead guitar - hmmm...i'm tempted to say omar from mars volta/ATDI, as he would bring the requisite spacy weirdness to make this work, but i'm not sure if he would bring enough funk...

and throw mike patton in on lead vocals for a couple songs for good measure.
