Motor oil level problem

I just changed oil about 3 weeks ago and now everytime i try to check the oil level it reads low. How is that when I just changed oil? Also when is the best time to check the oil level. Now I'm not sure if I'm running my car with not enough oil. I used mobil1 5w-30 and i put the whole galon which is suppose to be 5 quarts in there. What could be the problem?

Mine does the same thing... I heard that its normal (that is if you get on it a lot)

same for me, changed it out with mobil 1 5w30 about 2k miles ago and it was also pretty low .i just make sure to check it every week and add oil as needed

What do you call low? Engine oil level is good if between the holes when cold or warm and at or below the notch when HOT.

Um, a gallon is only four quarts, not five. If you put the contents of a gallon container in and no more then you underfilled it. The capacity is 4.8 qts.
