Default 04 TS: fair price?

Hey guys,

I was thinking of switching to 5-speed car lately, so I am wondering what would be the fair market price for my 04 auto TS with 48k kilometers (yeah I drive a lot...huge majority of them are highway kms...) on it? It's in perfect shape, all service done at the dealership, only thing that broke during the year and a few months of my ownership is one of the bulbs which lit the rear license plate (replaced under warranty ).

I am going to buy something older instead, probably 5-speed turbo Legacy (under impression of Aspect's crazy rally car ).

Any info is appreciated.

Average Trade in : $13,700
Average Private Sale : $16,000

This is from the Canadian Black Book. Might be less because I didn't input your high kilometers.

skier wants a stick shift!

I only saw one TS in the buy & sell which was going for a marked up $18595 with 20,000 kms sooo I dont know.. try throwing it in the vancouver sun/province for 16,500 or something

sometimes you can get good value for trade-ins depending on the dealership you go to, and the black book usually quotes ridiculusly low so I wouldn't abide by that (try telling a dealership you want to pay black book value for their car, they'll think you're crazy, but then they always point to it when they're getting the car from you..)

Unfortunately thats what happens to new cars. You are probably better off keeping it IMO. Volvo still has that SVX for sale, but its grossly overpriced, even if it does have low mileage. Go see what they will offer you for a trade in against that SVX

The SVX my Uncle bought in the summer was at Richmond Subaru, and it was on the lot for ages. They originally wanted $14k for it, Uncle ended up getting it for $9600. Such a good deal. Once it has been on the lot for awhile you can haggle with them a lot more.

Hmmm I've always been a new-car kinda guy (no jokes you b*****es ), so this idea of buying old, but not vintage, is very

Seriously, the SVX is a head turner, if you want to trade a bit of function for fun, that's the way to go. Probably less than what it would cost to upgrade the TS atleast?

I am sure they will never ever sell it for what they want for it now. SVXs maintain their value much worse then 04 TSs do

Upgrade... Say, ej20 or ej22 swap + manual tranny swap? No way

Well you could buy this and make all of us jealous:

Holden Morano

It's got a 350 HP 5.7L V8, 6spd, factory 18's, RWD (gotta drift it), 4 wheel discs, and it looks incredible, like some Jaguar/BMW/Mitsubishi thing?!? At $57,699 CAN, it's not a hopeless dream for a gainfully employed single male.

I think it looks like a 2003 era mustang, at least from the front.

I think it looks more like a 2004 Pontiac GTO.

BTW, the guys nickname is Skier, I kinda doubt he is looks for a high powered RWD car. Just my intuition.

Well you only do one thing for so long before getting sick of it.

... and drifting is new, how does he know it's not better than skiing?

exactly right. I would be looking pretty stupid on a 350 hp rwd car trying to get up to Mt Washington after a snowfall

Nothing is better then skiing! Well, a few things. But they are not car-related

Just test-drove that SVX...man...I like it now even better...even with 4eat...

Driving high powered RWD in the snow is like skiing. Just think you can "ski" up the road to the mountain!

the only way you'll be going "up" in a 350hp rwd car after a snowfall is with studded tires lol
