Default My misfire problem.... solved!

The turbo seized! No wonder it was having a hard time at idle.

Beautiful, huh?

Turbo seizied? Was it your oil feed line? Hmm.. gets me wondering..
Hey Nick, if you are going to get yours rebuilt who are you using? I am looking for a place to rebuild mine right now before we go any further on the project..Know of any good shops around this neck of the woods?
Sorry to hear about that turbo though, that bites the big one

Turbo seized? That makes no sense. I don't remember, did you buy it used? What's the cost to repair?

Also... Are there preventative mechanisms (guages, sensors, etc) that could have warned you that you didn't buy?

Ok, NM. I could only wish it was the turbo that seized. Looks like I may be out of a car for a while...

Uhh ohh.. umm.. does it have something to do with getting some piston slap ?
Anyhow, sorry to hear that Never fun when the car's not behaving and making a bigger headache than was hoped for..
Man, i am seriously curious now.. lol

And Dada, there really is nothing you can do gauge wise IMHO to prevent you from seizing your turbo, the only thing you could possibly use is a oil temp gauge and intake temp. (beleive it or not.. lol) gauge, but even then.. the best way to prevent it is make sure your lines are clean, and you're getting good oiling to the turbo and just double checking everything every now and then.
As for the cost of rebuilding a turbo, it depends on what turbo, etc. Generally a couple hundred (2-300 IIRC) to get a rebuild, but you can't always rebuild, depends on the severity of the damge, my rebuild is going to run around 275 if i remember right.

Angry

Well i hate to say it but 8's car will be out of commission fo ra little bit. Not sure what happened just yet but it seems that a piece of either a valve or piston broke loose in number 4 smashing the electrode on the spark plug, making it's way out the exhaust valve and into, do i dare say?? The Turbine, that was the grinding it noise it all fo a sudden made. Chewed up the Turbine fins pretty badly and knicked the #4 piston pretty badly. Well i believe 8's feeling ont he #4 injector was proven right today, the car was finally running GREAT, the first run w/o the ITC was pinging a little bit but as the ECU started to learn the curve it was doing nicely at correcting. WEll it seems like that #4 injector might be the culprit after all causing it to run lean, there fore shattering the ring land off the piston(my guess) and causing it to nail the spark plug...and so on and so on. Well 8 ready to put a motor together?? Just say the word brotha.

Not a big deal... just hoping that it didn't do any valvetrain damage on the way out. If that holds true, then I'm nearly home free other then a bit of work.

I'm sorry that all this happens.
When you guys say that a ring or something broke off, what would be a possible reason for that?

Bad detonation. I still think that the injector on #4 is a little clogged. Wish there was a way I could test it real quick other then ohm testing it (16.0 vs. 16.5-16.7 like the others).

Jeremy - You want a job at a Subaru place, I will be there with pictures in hand and stories ready to tell making sure you get in.

Yeah, I think that spare block is going through a phase of changing identities. First it was a block that I looked at and studied, then it was a donor block, and very soon it will be a buildup block.
