I have searched for about 2 1/2 hours, and I cannot seem to find out what the difference between the AP Stage 1 & AP Stage 2 is. I have gone to Cobb's home page and viewed the difference but all I can see is that the AP Stage 2 has the Turbo Back Exhaust, and is $1200 more. Am I correct?

So basically it is a Stage 1 AP with the TBE, to make it Stage 2

As long as you get a TB, you're good to go. You don't need to get a Cobb turboback, but any turboback that is 3". My suggestion, piece together a turboback. For the time being though, get the stage 1. It's a nice jump from stock.

When I went to stage 2 I just had an uppipe and dowpipe and was very pleased w/ the results. $500 new for both parts. If you want to, you can always add a catback later... it is not a necessity at stage 2. But of course I had to move onto stage 2.5!!

I wasn't impressed with Stage 1, but Stage 2 is definitely worthwhile. I recommend going straight to Stage 2 and not wasting your time with 1. The minimum requirement for Stage 2 is a catless downpipe, and you can get a shorty for about $150 from Oakos that will do fine if you're not planning big HP in the future. That combined with a catless uppipe (if you choose) and your ride will be significantly smoother and more powerful than stock.

Yea, I was planning on purchasing the Stage 1 AP, the up & downpipe, and cat back. Which would put me at Stage 2. So yea that is what im going to do.

SOme people are jsut too confusing. Stage 2 ECU Flash is NOT Stage 1 Flash with a TBE. The Access Port is the ECU reflasher and you can have different programs on there which you can flash your car with. Now, Stage 1 requires a stock vehicle. YOu can have some minor modifications such as an up-pipe or IC hoses. In order to properly use the stage 2 map, you need at LEAST a Downpipe. I have a Helix Downpipe and a STi axleback, works just fine. YOu dont NEED to get the COBB TBE to run the stage 2 map. YOu dont purchase the "Stage 1 AP". YOu purchase the AP and then you load stage 1 map or stage 2 map which you can download for free on their site. The Power packages that you are probobly reffering to are the stage 1, which is just the AP. Stage 2 is the AP and a TBE.

i just got an AP, i was reading through the directions (i only glanced at'em), but my question is,
are there maps already on the AP or do i have to download them first? i was under the impression that the downloading was only for future maps. |

You shoulda started a new thread to ask this, but yes, it comes with maps preloaded. In fact, you must marry the AP to your car before you can download maps to it.

Although it comes with pre-loaded maps, I would recommend that you update the AP, directions on how to do that are on cobb's web page. Since you have an 04, it is recommended that you update the firmware on the AP. Dont marry the AP yet since you have to Unmarry it to update the AP.
