After reviewing the video from last week's trip to VIR I took a look at a video clip from 6 years ago. I even broke the two videos into splits so I could see the time difference. I was 4sec faster from the Start/Finish line to the bridge, 3.5sec faster from the bridge to the apex at Oak Tree, not quite 2sec faster from Oak Tree to the '1' brake marker at the top of the roller coaster, and a bit more than 3.5sec faster from the top of the roller coaster to Start/Finish. The difference on the back straight is primarily gearing, since I don't imagine my speed entering the straight has changed appreciably. I have an Outback 5th gear in the car now, which means it actually accelerates in 5th gear, so my terminal speed is about 10mph higher at the end of both long straightaways.

I only have "official" times from LRP. Almost all events I attend in my 1988 M3 are HPDEs. My LRP time is from an EMRA TT, which was a 1:05:3. Lots of fast Subies out there!

The corner weight was way off on the car, and we needed more front downforce to get us through the oval better.

1.)What alignment settings are you running on the track ?
I currently use -2deg front and -1.5deg back with slight tow in and 6deg caster. However I will be increasing camber to -3deg inthe front.

2.) There is a theory that a AWD car needs to have equal camber front and back - whats your theory ?

I drive a 2004 STi with a GT30R and a 2.2L. Im using HKS Hypermax Pro.
BTW - I am the chairman of the Subaru Owners Club of South Africa.

Previous best before last month going CCW was 1:26.5, so I gained a second betwen more power, better tires, and better driving.

In an earlier post I wrote 1:23.03 as best for CW, but after last weekend, I think that must have been a timing error, cause with more power and widder tires and more experience, I am not coming close to that time. Going again in January, so we will see if I can get some better times.

Definitely need to get my built motor put together and back in the car. The essentially stock N/A EJ25D felt downright anemic, even on a non-HP track like Shenandoah. I never got out of 4th gear even on the main straight!

For those in fairly stock cars, these are some nice times to shoot for.

Evo IX GSR 2006 T2 specs
Mods: ecu tuning, cat-back exh. K&N drop in filter, Hoosier R6 245 45 17s, Hawk DTC 70 brake pads, SRF brake fluid, Sparco pro2000 drivers seat.
everything else to include suspension was 100% factory stock.

All records are SCCA
Summit point main 1 25.1 T2 track record is 1.24.3 by Hemmingson STI
CMP 1.48.3 T2 track record is 1.48.9 by Rosenblum STI
VIR full 2.12.6 *T2 track record*

Went to the track Sunday. I improved more this time with 0 new car mods than I ever did before with more power or wider wheels/tires or anything. Best CW time is now 1:24.2 as opposed to the old 1:26.5. I was running 1:24's and low 1:25's all day. 2 corners in specific that I did things differently on are where most of the time came from I think. I am a happy camper.

Only thing now is the fact that CCW is supose to be faster by almost 1 second. Looks like I need to find more tricks to get my CCW time lower.

Vehicle: 1972 Fiat 128 (1,116cc, hot rodded)
Track: Thunderhill (full, over the top of 5)
Time: 2:16.9xx
-vintage prepped except for V710 tires, belting out a solid 80hp.

I had gradually worked that time down from a 2:21.xxx from when I first got the car a year before, just from better driving and suspension development. Never touched anything HP related, and that was on the same set of 215/50-13 Kumho V710s with about 6 days worth of runs.

Vehicle: 2004 STi
Track: Thunderhill (with bypass, only ran twice with this car, never over 5)
Time: 2:01.7xx (6 laps in a row within a few tenths)
Mods: custom valved Tein flex, bars, catted TBE, 92oct EcuTek tune, 255/40-17 Pirelli Corsa. Could pretty much hang with C5 Z06s on Hoosier by good drivers
