Thanks but I'm expecting to be about 3 seconds quicker this year there. While I love RA1s for practice and their long life, now that I'm racing in "unlimited" the tires we use (Hankook) are much, much faster The car was really awful to drive with the blown rear diff and anyone who's driven this track knows how much time you loose between 5 and 9 if you can't put any power down.

Thanks,
Phil

I was running 1:24's and low 1:25's all day. 2 corners in specific that I did things differently on are where most of the time came from I think. I am a happy camper.

Only thing now is the fact that CCW is supose to be faster by almost 1 second. Looks like I need to find more tricks to get my CCW time lower.

ok, new times going both directions to post.

CW best - 1:23.6
CCW best - 1:24.1

After running 1:24's going CCW I got a ride along and was shown 1 corner that I was really screwing up, which would explain why I have been slower going CCW than CW when CCW is suppose to be faster. I tried the better way to attack the corner but the timers were turned off, so I am not sure how much it helped yet.

Power, suspension?

Doesn't appear to be the 3 seconds faster I've been hearing about.

Hope they didn't pay the company that did the work yet then...

Are they going to cement 5-8 then? I imagine that's wear it's getting chewed up.

Yeah. 1 and 5 are the worst. Going into 6 is pretty bad. And there's some level of breakup in just about every corner. I think the only solution is to repave the whole track, or at least repave the corners. And do it right this time. But we know BSR won't pony up the $$ to do that...so who knows what will happen.

By trying to save a few bucks it's going to cost more I'm sure to fix it. Like you said who knows if they'll bother or they will patch it and it will be just as bumpy

Have you guys heard the rumor of a track being built in Southern Maryland? I checked on the rumor, and it is in fact being proposed on a 600 acre lot in Hollywood, MD. This location is just only a few miles from where I currently live. It is still just a proposal to the local govt, with a lot to work out. the land is available and the local powers to be want it. I hope it comes to fruition, although I would think it is at least two years out.

Vehicle: 08 WRX (Element Hydra, GT52, 950cc, STi TMIC)
Suspension: Stock with Whiteline Swaybars
Brakes: STi Brembo, Pagid Yellow
Track: New Jersey Motorsports Park "Lightning"
Time: 1:18.1
Tire: 245/40/18 Dunlop Street Z Star Spec

This was at an EMRA TT event and the first time running this track. I absolutely love the track and can't wait to get our Time Attack STi here. The hardest part about running this track with stock springs, struts, and street tires was getting through turns 3-5 as it was so hard to manage the weight transfer. All too often I was "rally" style through those sections which hurt my timed run. Without a race seat or harness my body was really sore afterwards. With some proper suspension I should be able to shave a few seconds off this time even on street tires. It was pretty funny though to be running with the caged Corvettes, Z06, and 911 all running race tires while I waited in staging with my AC running

Thanks,
Phil

Pat
I'll post up a quick write-up tomorrow AM, as well as (hopefully) some in car from my cousins S2000.

But real quick....

Overall, a fun course. Lacks a pucker turn, like the shoot at summit, but its a neat little track. Technical section is tighter than it seems on paper, LOTS of elevation changes that video does not do justice. A few blind cresting corners, including turn 1, an uphill blind right hander. Certainly a spot where guts can gain you time...its on camber and you're always exiting knowing you couldn't gotten on the throttle sooner. Pretty easy on brakes, so that's a plus ( 1 130-70 and 1 110(ish) to 60), the rest is just quick punches.

And the best of course, its only 60 miles away....

Posted above, but I ran an 1:18.5 today after adding some more front camber.

Staging with the A/C? ...I RAN with the A/C. Its was TOO hot out there.

Agreed on 3-5 and a stock suspension. The weight transfer is especially pronounced through there and can really get you in trouble. In the middle sessions I was dreading getting the car through there...
