Default AP noob help

I've bought an Accessport off another member on here, and I have a couple of questions:

1. My Accessport isn't "talking" to my computer even though the Accessport is in "sync with PC" the message that comes up is "Couldn't identify Accessport (yyyy) call tech support". I've updated the software to 1.5v

2. What should my base map be? stock? or stage 2 (what I want to run now)

3. Do I just plug the accessport in, load a real time map, then unplug and drive?

Thanks.

1. you need to update the AP as well. click on this, and follow the readme file. http://www.accessecu.com/support/ReprogramAP_05WRX.zip

2. Flash stage 2 as your basemap if your car meet the maps requirements (TBE, or at least a downpipe). You don't want stock as a basemap.

3. Yes, or you can just run the stage 2 basemap as is. You don't have to load a realtime map.

i was just looking and do you (stisp33d) have a 02? if so, there isn't anything that you need in the new maps. it's mainly for the 04/05 models.

notes for 04/05:
Revision Notes:
1.21 - New Base Mapping based on MY05 program code including VIN reporting.
New Closed Loop / Open Loop transition parameters. Reduced delay to provide
quickier exit from Closed Loop operation. Reduced TPS (38%) and RPM (3800)
values to automatically switch out of Closed Loop. [BASE MAP UPDATE ONLY]

notes for 02/03:
1.21 - Revision number increased due to 2004-2005 map changes. There were no
required changes made for 2002-2003 WRX.

also if you go into you com port properties and lower the buffers down, that may help

edit: if you didn't upgrade your AP yet, but don't have the older map manager (v1.3), i have it.
