Well, I'll be dipped....learned something totally unrelated from this. Just out of curiosity I clicked on the link to see what this mod is like. Peaty mentions location near "coin holder by driver's left knee." What?! What coin holder? That's always been a minor aggravation of mine that the Forester has no coin holder, and I've been using the ashtray which really doesn't work too well as a coin holder. So I go out to the garage and check, and sho enuf, there's a nifty little drop-down coin holder! Cool! Can't believe I missed that all this time. This will make my trips through drive-thrus so much more enjoyable.

See what we can learn from Peaty? All hail Peaty!

I lined the inside of my coin tray / fusebox cover with some rubber material so I wouldn't hear the coins rattle around As an added bonus, you can remove that tray by opening up the hatch and pulling up and out. On the back of it tray is a map of the fuses

Hey Peaty, I searched ScoobyMods a bit for the fog light mod (separating the fog lights from the rest of the lighting) and wasn't able to find anything specifically for the Forester. Is it similar to the WRX or do we have different wiring?

I haven't done that mod myself (I only run my fogs in the rain and fog w/headlamps) so I can't say for sure. I do suspect that they are similar though. What may be different is the wire colours.

I checked the forester site and here it is:

Peaty,
That's the same one for the climate control fix, right?

I'll need one to wire in my LM-1. Guess I could run both the fan and the WB02.

Sure. Any device you want to hardwire that will turn off when you turn the car off. Radar detector, coffee maker, blender......

Slight resurrection on this one; but does anyone know what fuse this goes back to. Or maybe just what kind of load I would be ok with before needing a relay on this wire? I am planning on hardwiring my RX65 and LE-30 and this is actually a perfect spot for me. I am guessing those two aren't too much for whatever this is/was for, but better to ask first than when there is a problem.

Wait, I just double-checked and this is listed under the Forrester. Guess I need to go out and see if that wire is in the STi as well. If not, without more searching anyone care to share the best spot in that same area to tap power from?

great find Peaty.
I found this exact plug & wire back when I was wiring my FF1000's so I used it as a 12v power source for the rocker switch on the lights. Then I decided to add an aftermarket sub and amp so I wired the hellas in with the high beams and I am now using the rocker switch to turn the amp on and off. At the time I was trying to figure out where I was going to get my 12v power from then I stumbled across this wire and tested it with the ignition on and off lets just say I was really happy after that.
