Default WRX performance parts from Ultimate Racing

Hi guys, just wanted to let you know that Ultimate Racing in Toronto, Canada has developed performance parts for the new WRX. The parts that are available now include the front cat replacement pipe (replaces the cat before the turbo), 3" stainless steel turbo downpipe and a blow-off valve kit using the HKS Super Sequential bov. A full 3" stainless steel exhaust system is in development also.

I have these pieces on my car and I love em. Really high quality stuff. We hope to be able run the car into the 12's in the mile before a turbo upgrade. Stay Tuned

Check out http://www.ultimate-racing.com for information on these parts. They also have some pictures on there of some of the pieces (actually the car in the pictures is mine )

If anyone is interested, give Johnson Lii a call @ (416) 292-6446 or email him at johnsonlii@yahoo.com

oops, forgot one more thing. Ultimate also has a billet intake that accepts the stock air sensor. I have a K&N cone filter attached to this piece. Don't have any check engine lights with these parts on either.

Default Looked at your setup

Your setup looks promising, but I have some questions and suggestions.

1. The intake looks like it will be collecting hot air from the engine. This does not seem like a worthwhile mod. It would, however, be simple to extend into the fender, block off any engine entrys, and build a screen to go behind the foglight or some other mod getting cold ram air into the fender. Maybe below the fender.

2. The exhaust looks good. I would consider doing mandrel bent, equal length headers before the turbo. Also your dual dump looks like it dumps to atmosphere. Looks too loud. You might also want to do the exhaust with a diff protector, since many of us have this part on our imprezas. Also a flex joint with a single high flow cat would be good. Reduction from 3 to 1 would definitely be a good improvement.

Is that a free venting wastegate exhaust? How well is that sealed up at the turbo? I'm guessing it's not exactly a "stealth" street system.

The wastegate dump pipe on my car is atmospheric because we didn't want a boost creep problem thats not uncommon on turbos with internal wastegates. The downpipe has a divider piece that separates the wastegate hole and it seemed to be sealed very well since the boost holds at the correct level and doesn't creep at all. Also the wastefgate doesn't seem that loud but I guess that's subjective I believe that the downpipes that Ultimate Racing is building now will not be the same atmospheric dump setup as I'm using.

As for mandrel bent equal length exhaust manifolds.. sure i'd really love to have them but on our boxer engines it seems like it'd be really difficult to do. I think it'd end up making too many bends to keep them equal length. Does anybody make these for our WRXs yet?

The exhaust actually tucks up really close to the body through out except for near the rear diff where it's a little lower but I think there's enough ground clearance that it shouldn't really be a problem... I guess I'll have to see when I put on my coilovers

The intake right now is still inside the engine bay because I'm a little paranoid about water that might get into the fender. That's the real danger of running cold air intakes into the fender. Right now the K&N sits beside the holes where the stock intake resonator box used to be and I still feel a really good difference.

I have one high flow cat on it right now and still I feel a HUGE power gain over my stock car. I would have kept that cat off the car if I could afford all the tickets I'd be getting
