Default Shifting and Clutch in Wisconsin Winter

I have a brand new 2005 WRX with a short throw shifter. I've noticed that when I first get into my car, the clutch will sometimes stick when I'm pressing down on it. This goes away farly quickly, but what's more worrysome to me is I am having a hard time shifting. The knob isn't moving as freely as it should. And it seems to be happening mostly when I shift to and from 1st and 5th gears. This will get better the more I drive it, I'm assuming the components are warming up, but it still bugs me. I'm afraid I will do damage to my transmission. It's been around in the 20s the past couple days and we just had a snowfall/rain Sunday night. The shifting was really bad when I was coming home from work today. Is there anything I can do to prevent this freeze-up from happening?
