Default 2.2 block into a 2002 wrx?

Hey Guys,

will a 2.2 L block bolt easily into a 2002 wrx? Will everything transition cleanly from the 2.0 onto the 2.2? I need to know in a hurry, and I am at work, so I can't sit here and read the forums for hours right now. If anyone can answer, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks guys and gals!
B.

which 2.2 block.....the ej22t or the ej22? Also are you referring to the newer 2.2's or the later models? What exactly are you doing?

umm yeah you dont really have to look far for the answers on this topic, but i let ya know that the wrx parts will swap on to the 2.2turbo with "some work"... first off the 2.2turbo pistons are deep dish type...that accually protrude from the top deck slightly on top dead center...so you have to use the 2.2turbo head gasket which is thicker then a wrx gasket...secondly the wrx heads bolted to the 2.2turbo stock pistons yeild a very low comp. ratio something like 7.5:1 or something grose like that..so custom pistons are reccomended for off boost power to get out of its own way....and umm yeah the 2.2turbo has a vent pipe commin out of the case where the coolant crossover pipe is currently on your wrx engine so that needs to be ripped out and the hole plugged up...umm the 2.2turbo only uses 4 bolts for the transmission..so the one starter bolt cant be used to hold the starter and transmission/to the engine...most people just helicoil the hole in the trans to hold the starter to the trans...everything else is a go........ I put custom forged pistons in my 2.2/wrx hybrid with more shallow dishes on the piston tops....but im not complete yet...im dealin with wiring problems..rightnow

Hey Guys,

thanks a lot for the information! As far as I know for sure, it is the 2.2t block, a newer one with I think like 17,000 miles. should be a newer one. This was the info that I was hoping for. Doesn't sound too hard of a conversion. Hopefully I get the block.

Thanks again!
Brian
