EJ25 shortblock in 92 legacy (ej22t) OEM swap?

I bought my 92 legacy for the shortblock (ej22t) to put in my impreza, i also bought a whole ej25 (2.5RS) motor for the heads and intake to put on my ej22t, Will it be an oem swap to put the ej25 shortblock back in my 92 legacy and use the legacy top end?

Yes,

But why take out a beautiful engine like the EJ22t and replace it with a EJ25?

Unless you are referring to a EJ257 (STi) block

the ej22t block is mated with ross 9:1 forgies and eagle rods, with ej25 (rs) heads. i just dont want to throw the legacy away. and i have an ej25 (rs) block thats not doing me any good otherwise. id like to use ej22t heads because of HLA, but if i have to use single port heads and ej25 block just to get my legacy up and running again its worth it dont you think?

Yes it will work. Use the 2.5 litre headgaskets.

PS We have done about 6 of these conversions. They are torquey little bastards!

And you have mated ej25 blocks with ej22 heads 6 times...

We have always used the EJ22 heads.

And yep.

The first one had P&P'd heads,extrude honed intake,throttle body,cams,exhaust dump and nitrous. The body was nearly falling off

Another one was boosted for about 20 minutes

Use the 2.5 litre injectors from an older outback. 2 of the cars had detonation issues and those took care of it.

Both are 270cc side feed injectors.....

Agreed. We did one of these motors and added the following:

Delta cams
JC Sports intake
Brullen replica headers
custom 2.25" cat-back
lightened flywheel
torque chip

The car is a 94 AWD L wagon (~2600lbs) and is a blast to drive. Of course, I did the drum -> disk conversion, WRX brakes up front, SS lines all around, yadda, yadda, yadda...

The car is a blast to drive on a daily basis, but is a bit unrefined. It has no AC, PW, PL, cruise or ABS.

My legacy is turbo, and my heads are different then non turbo ej22 heads. i plan to still boost it to 7-10 psi if the swap will work

I just picked up an eaton M90 supercharger. So i will be blowing 7psi instead off boosting from the rhb5. i suppose it will have its ups and downs
