Default where does the AP's boost display max out?

Hey guys... i have my sti running the stage 2 base, with the HWG real time map and when i'm in 4th, 5th (didnt try 6th) I hit 18.3 psi... to me that is weird how 4th and 5th both peak at the same boost point, so i'm just wondering if the AP's boost display maxes out there, or that my boost really is reading correctly.

can anyone shed any light on this?

side note: I just swapped out my stealthback with the cobb tbe, and absolutly love it... cobb's tbe is tip top

i just got back from testing that, and even though my gauge reads 18.75 psi, the ap only reads 18.3 psi, in both 4th&5th wot, so 18.3 is probably the highest it reads.

Sounds like your gauge is off that little amount and the AP is holding you to 18.3 which is normal on a STi.

the ap climed extremly fast to 18.3 psi and suddenly stopped and would hold for second or two,(seeming like it hit a limit) while my gauge was at 18.75 psi; before boost started to taper to 18 psi, which showed on both my gauge and ap. so to me it does seem like the ap's readout is maxed at 18.3 psi.

I highly doubt the psi display is capped at any reading. If it is, it's probably at 99.99. Sounds like a descrepency between the two gauges, that's all.

it makes sense and is what i would have thought, but it really seemed like the ap maxed out. so far two of us have experienced it, and maybe someone eles can give it a try.

weird, because the scan master and AP read off the same stock sensor in the manifold. I think you're right, it is capped. I hope that's changed for the ST version/datalogging. I'll have to call cobb bout this. I ran my car tonight, i think the highest I seen was 18.3 too, but I'm not 100%, it was a short road and there just too many god damn things to monitor in my car any more.

EGT, RPM, AFR, SPEED, Radar, and two boost gauges. . .I really need that ST for datalogging. . .before I kill someone.

I suspect the Cobb and I know the Deltadash (and the Scanmaster from what I hear) use the SSM protocol, which allows you to see both absolute and relative boost pressure.

Due to a limitation in the protocol, the Relative Pressure value can't go over 18.3psi (actually, it is 18.4 by the DD program). If you instead read the absolute pressure, and subtract the current atmo pressure, you can read up to 1.55 bar (22.4psi). The sensor itself becomes very non linear above 22psi, so I would not use it for anything above that.

So, your AP is reading as expected for the relative values. I suppose Cobb could change it to read the absolulte if needed. The deltadash can read both, and I always log the absolulte.

Cheers,

Just called Cobb to verify and that's exactly what it is jeff, thanks for the input. The ST will have the option to read the full sensor, up to 2.5 bars
