Default Is it possible to heat wrap your stock uppipe?

I know it already has some metal sheilding over it but has anyone tried to wrap the whole thing before? I ordered some dei exhaust wrap and was going to do my down pipe and was thinking of doing the upipe too. what do you think?

if you gut it, it shouldn't be a problem - but if you leave it as is, keep in mind there is a catalytic converter in there - you will almost certainly drive the temperatures high enough to kill it if you wrap it - and the only place for chunks of that cat to go once it dies is into the turbo... not a good thing...

ive already de-catted the uppipe, though, is it still not a good idea? i thought you wanted to hold all the heat on the inside so the air can get pushed through easier, and the temps on the outside will drop lowering underhood temps?

too hot?? I'm not familiar with the brand you mentioned, but many companies make "header" wrap, which is the closer to the block than the UP. I would wrap the UP though, no the heat shielding. Put the shielding back on over the wrap, that would be sweet

If my UP was laying on my floor like it was six months ago, I would have wrapped it with my DP.

oh i see, too hot for the cat. I would wrap the mother
