Default Lifted Baja

Just curious if anyone has talked about or already lifted their baja and put larger tires on it? I know there is a kit out in AUS for the Forester. I would think that something has to be out for the Baja then. I think it would look pretty cool with a 2" lift and larger beefy tires under it! Even though I am at the opposite extreme mind you.

There are really just a few option:
1) scorpion spring lift (manufactured by King)- 1.5-2.0" lift
2) scorpion body lift- 2.0" lift
3) lower/reweld strut braces- 2.0-3.0"
4) ralliteck is working with mudrat to develop body lift. hopefully it will be out by summer at the latest. no spects yet.

225/70s look great on the baja with a few inch lift. I'm deciding which option I sould do right now.

even with the lift, may still need to cut out some of the fron and back wheel well to avoid rubbing.

Thumbs up

I'd like to lift mine too-
I looked under mine, and it's already "lifted" with approx 1 1/2 inch spacers.
But I still want to lift mine-
When the payments are done....

My new Scorpion springs are sitting here on the living room floor! Shiny, yellow and calling to be installed! It looks like Thursday is the day! I am excited.

When you see me in Germantown, honk!

I have heard of Scorpion as a guy from my forester board has his FXT lifted by them. IMO, a body lift does not look good with out the suspension lift. I only say this because I used to own a huge CJ5 that had a 4" suspension lift with a 2" body lift. It just made it all look alot cleaner that way. When you lift a Forester it sort of starts to look kinda like a Grand Cherokee I think.

You may be right. I want to wait and see. My reason for going with the springs alone to start is that, I want more ground clearance, without needing new tires (yet). I also wanted to see if the 2 inches of suspension lift would be enough to clear some better tires, and in doing these things I wanted to keep the car a low as possible. Also, in terms of installation it is no comparison between the two.

But, who knows what the future holds for the Baja.

I thought the springs gave you 1 1/2 in. on the Baja and 2 in. on the Forrester. That's what i've read.

That is what I was told too. But, Brett at Renick said differently. Go figure!

So this lift really isnt going to lift an 04 05 Baja much.... since it lifts the 03 from 7.3 in to 8.8 in or 9.3 in if it really lifts it 2 in. I dont think its worth 1200 bucks to lift my 05 less than an inch since the 04 and 05 are 8.4 in (I believe this heigth is from the lowest point).

The springs were 400 delivered to my door, not 1200. If you do it yourself then its not bad at all.

there's a picture of the all yellow truck I built once floating around here somewhere.

we tried to get the beefy tires, but you have to cut the fenderwells...as they're too car like to fit a 27 or 28 under...

the other tough part is the fact that bajas have 16" rims. good luck finding a more aggressive tire in 16" size...most are 15's.

Not true...the wife has a Jeep Liberty and 16" off-road tires are plentiful.

You could try Xcelleration, but as I understand it they resell them from Renick. But they might have some sitting there and may be closer to you too.

If they will fit on an 05, they will fit here.

I will find out when it comes time to get new tires.

225/70-16 won't fit with just the spring lift. you still have to cut out some places in both the front and back wheel well. I am putting a spring and body lift on in a few weeks (actually Rallitek is doing it for me), for a total of about 3.5 " lift. Even with that I'm pretty sure I will have to do some "trimming" in the wheel wells, because the 225/70-16s will still rub when the springs are fully compressed. Remember, the Subi suspension set-up has really good travel.

You get 2 on the body lift and 1 1/2 with the springs = 3.5
