if you ever do it yourself.. touch/smell the dirty oil and compare it to your new container -- see how much it broke down. With regular Castrol 5w30 synthetic -- mine breaks down even as early as 3,500 to 4,000KM's.. 15,000 miles? Sure if you want to shorten the life of your engine.

Both numbers, the 0 and the 40 are the flow rate, viscosity, thickness, weight, whatever you want to call it. It means that the oil covers a range of flow rates / viscosities / thicknesses / weights / whatever. When the engine is cold, the oil will have a viscosity of 0. When it reaches it's operating temp, it has a viscosity of 40. You don't seem to understand what viscosity means - you're implying it relates to two different things, and I just don't think others should be mislead.

As for the performance of a 0w40 compared to a 5w30, Subaru recommends that 5w30 be used in these cars. That's the oil that suits them best. Anything thinner/thicker will not help at all.

REV does
boom plus toy does

and i think even specialty subaru use motul as well
