Default SLC people? AutoX on Sunday?

Just thought I would make post and see if there really is a AutoX this Sunday. We have quite a little caravan coming down if there is.

AFAIK there is one; it's at the e-center. The schedule shows it and I haven't heard that there's not one.

Of course I will be there. Maybe on some new tires although my Pirelli's probably have 1 or 2 races left in them. I need to recover from my horrible performance at the Pro last weekend. Can't believe I let 3 locals beat me

Stimpy, glad to hear your car is finally ready.

Alas, its still not turboed. I still have some things to take care of on my car, and Christian seems really busy, so I'll be waiting til fall. I figured since I needed tires anyway, I might as well get em now while I can still autox. If only I had a CNC machine and a cool welder (and knew how to weld) I would do it all myself. Custom machining sucks.

[EDIT] I can't believe your Pirellis are dead already! Aren't they over $200 each? The tire dealership asked if I wanted the warranty on the tires to combat defects and abnormal wear. I told him I didn't expect these tires to last long enough to justify a warranty

Yes, the Pirelli's are close to $200 a piece. They lasted a long time though. I raced on them one race last year in Vegas, then one this year in Vegas. I also raced on them at 11 other events including 3 Pro Solos which are a lot of runs on a harsh surface, plus I had a co-driver at 3 events, and 3 fun runs at one event. I also did a race school on them which is about 25 runs on concrete, and I let 2 other guys drive one run each up in Pocatello. If you add it up, it comes to over 150 runs so far. That is a lot of racing.

When does it start? I thought I was going to have to work but I somehow managed to get it off, I still don't think I will race But it will be fun to come out. Still thinking about getting those shocks that I could adjust for racing and for rallying. Hope I see y'all there.

I believe they try to get the first car out at 9:00 am. I say try because it's usually around 9:15 when it happens If you're just watching, you'll be safe getting there at 9:00. If you want to race or even just walk the course/get a feel for preparing for a race, you can show up at 8:00 and we'll show you around.

First off thanks for the race guys. I learned a lot with my unintended experiment. Over inflated tires causes a large amount of understeer. mark a note of that one I will.

I was a little alarmed at a couple of things that I noticed at this event, that were different than last time.

What the heck was up with the guy in the Super 7 cutting accross the track like that? I hope he got a stern talking to, regardless of who he was, and what he has raced before. That was the most potentially dangerous thing I have ever seen. If I had been in that black car and saw him coming at me, I would have stopped and kicked his ass.

Why do the mod guys get a different track than the rest of us. They opened up that turn 2 hairpin a lot. I could have taken a totally different line that would have surely been faster. Oh wells I guess we dont get points anyway so I wil stop bitching.

Anyway, keep up the good work and maybe we will come back down sometime.

I was the starter for the 3rd run group and i noticed that all the old guys (aka "experts") didn't give a **** what I was trying to get them to do; they did what they wanted because they were the "experts". The guy in the 7 was one of those...

Thanks guys, great AutoX!

That was my first event with my intake, headers, and suspension... and I guess you could say it made a difference.

Anyway, we've got an event scheduled here on Aug 5 and you guys are welcome to come up. I know Matt and AccidenT would love some revenge.

I didn't know they opened that hairpin up. That kind of pisses me off. That affects PAX, so I guess that makes it even better that I still won PAX That guy in the 7 I have not seen at a single other event in the past 2 years, and I have been to everyone of them. So expert might just be his attitude, not reality.

We also have a points event scheduled for the 5th, so I am sure Matt and I won't be going since we are in a tight 3 way battle with Noah for points. Although I am sure Matt had to be frustrated with the fact that he didn't get a single clean run. But he should be used to it, being last years Cone King and all

As for the tire experiment, you are definitely right. I find a huge difference in my times on the course when I am unintentionaly running 41 or 42 lbs. When I lower it to 38 or 39 I usually make at least a 1/2 second improvement. So I try to keep close track of what my tire pressures are now.
